Gifts to Ice Hockey Club contribute to...
The University of Richmond Club Hockey Team was founded in 2001 and has been on an upward trajectory ever since. Despite our relatively small undergraduate enrollment, the team is competitive year after year, matching up against larger schools like Duke, Georgetown, UVA, James Madison, and High Point.
UR lost to Wake Forest, who went on to win the tournament, in the ACCHL playoffs last spring. This year, the Spiders hold a 10-5-1 record and are on pace to earn a first-round bye in the playoffs this February. Practice and game turnouts are better than ever, and the team is as deep as any in the league. Despite this, the club does face obstacles. Our dues are the highest of any club sport at Richmond, largely driven by the high cost of ice in Virginia. Our budget allows for just one hour of ice each week to practice, making it challenging to stay sharp and focus on detailed systems, such as our power play.
Donations to the Club Ice Hockey program will substantially and tangibly help our team. Money received will go directly to our club budget for increased ice time, new jerseys (as we only have one set), and covering travel costs such as hotels. We hope to keep our dues as low as possible, and any contribution made to our campaign will help do so. The program continues to grow and develop, both in our product on the ice and culture in the locker room and within the campus community.
Thank you for considering donating to UR Ice Hockey and for your continued support of the program and its players.
