Cost is a significant factor when students and their families are choosing their college or university home. That's why the University of Richmond prides itself on offering some of the best financial aid anywhere. It is also why financial aid is our top fundraising priority.
When evaluating U.S. applicants for traditional undergraduate admission, Richmond considers academic achievements, community involvement, creativity, and drive — but not the ability to pay. And once an applicant is admitted, Richmond will meet 100% of their family’s demonstrated need. This dual commitment to “need-blind” admissions and meeting full demonstrated need is a signature promise that sets Richmond apart.
Richmond's generous financial aid is supported by endowed scholarships created by alumni, families, and others to ensure Richmond is accessible to talented students from all socio-economic levels. However, the need is even greater than the income on these endowments and fluctuates annually based on economic factors and class composition. Gifts to Undergraduate Financial Aid help bridge Richmond this gap and meet its promise without drawing funds away from other priorities.
